Abstract
Acute invasive fungal sinusitis is an aggressive and often fatal infection. It is characterized by tissue invasion and can frequently spread beyond the paranasal sinuses. When fungal disease extends to the skull base, surgical debridement can be challenging. Traditionally, external approaches have been used for the management of disease in these areas. But recent advances in endoscopic skull base surgery have emerged as a successful surgical modality allowing for minimally invasive approaches with decreased morbidity and comparable treatment outcomes. We report our institution¡¯s experience with endoscopic debridement of invasive fungal sinusitis extending beyond the skull base, safely performed with successful treatment outcome.
